SAS Partnered with Orange Logic to provide Content Orchestration at Scale

Analytics at enterprise scale

SAS is a global leader in data and AI, serving customers in more than 150 countries across banking, healthcare, government, retail, life sciences, and more. Marketing at that scale means content has to scale too. SAS’ marketing organization produces and manages a wide range of assets: stock and original photography, in-house and agency-produced graphics, stock and original video, audio files, product screenshots, and campaign collateral. Those assets are used, or require approval from, multiple teams beyond the marketing department: legal, HR, sales, communications, R&D, and even internal groups like SAS’ health center.

Katrina, Marketing Manager, Digital Content & Delivery Technology, serves as product owner for the company’s digital asset management (DAM) platform, software that provides the context, governance, and orchestration to manage the full content lifecycle, and that goes by the internal name SAS DAM. Johnathan, technical lead for SAS DAM, led much of the integration work behind the scenes. Their DAM administration team also includes two full-time administrators, Dieuwke and Juan, implementation project manager Elizabeth, and a group of volunteer reviewers who manage governance and metadata accuracy across the organization.

“If you multiply that [lack of findability and duplication] by all the different systems we have, all the different users in each system... it just led to inefficiencies over the years.”

— Katrina, Product Owner, SAS DAM

The Solution: A single governed DAM, connected to the entire MarTech stack

In 2023, SAS launched a DAM modernization initiative, evaluating several platforms before selecting Orange Logic as its enterprise foundation. The team soft-launched the platform in fall 2024 and went fully live in April 2025, consolidating eight legacy systems into one governed source of truth for approved marketing assets.

Flexible, department-specific workspaces

Dedicated workspaces let teams like legal and design manage their own review queues, with every comment, rejection, and rationale documented in one visible thread. This created audit trails and improved visibility.

A governed, permissions-based source of truth

Version control, standardized metadata, and full traceability ensure that only current, brand-approved assets circulate across the company.

Deep integrations across the MarTech ecosystem

SAS DAM now connects to 13 platforms, including image management, social media, sales, and video resources. Those connections replaced manual download-and-reupload cycles with a single click.

Metadata-driven automation and orchestration

Custom action buttons and Orange Logic automation workflows standardize ingestion, approvals, publishing, and distribution across every content type and media format.

A hands-on implementation partnership

Weekly check-in calls and direct access to Orange Logic’s development team let SAS shape new functionality as needs surfaced rather than wait on a generic roadmap.

“We have a lot of different ways that content flows in and out of the system, and that has made life so much easier for all of our users. Just click a button and have that asset sent to two or three other systems, instead of uploading it to different platforms individually.”

— Katrina, Product Owner, SAS DAM

The Results: Faster approvals, less duplication, one source of truth

SAS’s DAM modernization initiative produced a governed, high-velocity content operation with measurable results tied directly back to the original challenges.

90% reduction in duplication of web-based assets

Solved the duplicate-asset concerns that SAS wanted to address.

91.7% drop in process complexity

Achieved by consolidating fragmented workflows into a single operating model.

Legal and design approval turnaround cut from up to two weeks to about two days

An 85.7% reduction that eliminated the email-based review process that could hold up campaigns.

Asset removal workflows shortened from more than a month to about two weeks

Across integrated platforms, this addressed the manual, cross-system handoffs that used to consume weeks of staff time.

Stock asset access improved 3x

Direct integrations with Getty and Adobe Stock removed the repetitive manual download-and-reupload cycle.

User base grew 3,733% company-wide

Adoption increased significantly following SAS DAM’s designation as the enterprise source of truth.

1,022 duplicate assets identified and more than 8,800 approval workflows supported in 2025 alone

The platform combined cleanup, adoption, and governed workflow execution at enterprise scale.

“I would say they’re [content operations] a lot more efficient… generally speaking, on a day-to-day basis, it runs well with our integrations and our client base.”

— Katrina, Product Owner, SAS DAM

Lessons learned

Flexibility wins departmental buy-in

A platform that could not flex to the needs of legal, HR, sales, and R&D alike would have created new silos instead of eliminating them. SAS’s requirement that the DAM meet “almost every department need” is what made company-wide adoption possible.

Centralized approvals create an audit trail, not just a workflow

Moving reviews into shared workspaces did more than speed things up; it gave SAS a permanent, visible record of why decisions were made, which has become as valuable as the approval itself.

Integrations turn a DAM into an operating system for content

The connections to other platforms did as much for SAS’ efficiency gains as the DAM itself, carrying metadata and assets automatically instead of by hand.

A Better Experience, Every Day

With adoption and training hurdles largely behind them, SAS’ DAM team now receives only occasional user issues, with feedback shifting from platform frustrations to opportunities for continuous improvement.
