Database Administrator

The Database Administrator (DBA) plays a critical role in managing and enhancing our company’s database systems. This position is vital for ensuring the integrity, performance, and security of data that support our key business operations.

Your role at Orange Logic: 

• Database Uptime & Maintenance: Ensure 24/7 system availability with proactive maintenance and troubleshooting
• Performance Optimization: Improve system efficiency via indexing, query tuning, and configuration enhancements
• Security & Compliance: Enforce strong access controls, perform audits, and protect sensitive data from breaches
• Backup & Recovery: Design and maintain data redundancy strategies for reliable recovery in case of data loss
• Database Design: Collaborate with development teams to build scalable, application-specific database architectures
• Schema & Code Review: Optimize schemas and indexes, and review database code changes for performance and accuracy
• Automation: Create scripts and processes to automate database operations within a DevOps environment
• Incident Management: Partner with SRE and Core Services teams to diagnose and resolve incidents, driving reliability
• Monitoring & Reporting: Continuously monitor system health and deliver performance insights to stakeholders
• Ongoing Learning: Stay updated on database technologies and best practices to support continuous improvement

Ideal Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and a minimum of 5 years DBA experience
• Certifications in database management (Microsoft Certified, Oracle Certified, etc.) is
• preferred
• Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
• Excellent knowledge of MS-SQL server
• Strong knowledge of other SQL engines (some NoSQL knowledge a plus)
• Experience with scripting languages for automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash)
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
