MANAGING 20 MILLION TRAVEL ASSETS WITH DAM
Find out how the world’s largest online lodging and tourism site juggles 23 million digital assets across separate subdivisions.
The U.S.-based travel app started as a small space-sharing app. By 2016, it was an international enterprise with offices all over the world and nearly 3 million hosts. In 2018, it introduced three new segments, each using thousands of assets, alongside an active marketing team that needed more images, videos, and graphics.
A searchable archive for professional photos, finalized videos, and design files, and a central source of truth for brand assets that press and employees could use.
The team’s media uploader couldn’t handle the volume. “We wanted to do hundreds of professional video and photo shoots around the world,” their digital asset manager said. Photographers, editors, and artists in hundreds of locations needed a central place to upload large RAW files and add metadata so teams could find them.
“You can push Orange DAM over and over again, and it can always scale. I don't think we could have done what we did over the past few years without that.”

Scale to upload assets: Orange DAM became the main delivery system for scaled photo shoots worldwide, ingesting 90,000 to 100,000 RAW files a day at peak.
Integrate existing tools: Integrations let users review, edit, and deliver final assets, tag with AI, collaborate through project management tools, and comply with regulations like GDPR.
Manage brand identity: A press page with pre-approved logos and images, and during the busiest period, a “de facto MAM.”
The DAM now holds more than 20 million assets for six groups, has served more than 15,000 users, and supports more than 1,000 shoots per week globally.
Choose a DAM platform that can scale.
Find a DAM that helps you comply with regulations. GDPR support simplifies rights management.
Decide on your own storage. Storing everything in its own AWS S3 buckets keeps costs in production storage rather than the DAM budget.
