HOW ORANGE LOGIC AND HEADSPACE WORK TOGETHER

HEADSPACE CUTS THIRD-PARTY STORAGE COSTS 60%

Find out what happened when the health and wellness brand brought more than 60% of its company under one digital asset management umbrella.

Making the world happier and healthier

Headspace launched in 2010 as an events company specializing in meditation. Participants wanted to bring the meditations home, so Headspace moved online. Today it offers an app with guided meditations, weekly online shows, multiple series on Netflix, and has merged with health and wellness brand Ginger. As they describe it, “We’re more a health & wellness brand with a studio.”

The goal

Creatives were spending too much time searching for existing assets or recreating projects. Headspace also wanted to cut third-party storage costs and find a DAM built for video- and audio-heavy content that could house all final assets in one place. Marla Watson, Headspace’s first Digital Asset Manager, led the search.

The challenge

Assets were spread across Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, a QNAP storage drive, Salesforce Highspot, and hard drives. “Basically all the content, all the brand design, all the creative elements were all over the place,” said former DAM Manager Dave Finley. Teams often duplicated work without realizing it.

“Combining accessibility, integrations and storage, Orange DAM gave us a means to foster connection and build trust cross-departmentally.”

The solution

Findability: Centralized, metadata-rich content let Creative, Sales, Marketing, and international teams discover content, with downloads up 1180% from 2020 to 2021.

Integrations: Headspace connected Adobe, its CMS, analytics, and machine learning software. “These integrations eliminate a lot of time and effort, and duplication of effort,” Dave shared.

Permissions: Fine-grained permissions manage access for every department.

Cost saving: Headspace cut third-party storage subscriptions by about 60% and retired its QNAP server.

The results

Most finished files now live in Orange DAM, and active users rose 335% between 2020 and 2021. DAM metadata even informs how teams search for content and helps create playlist recommendations in the Headspace app.

“We're seeing the return on investment. It's used by 60% of the company, and 100% of the users who need to use it are using it. It’s part of every workflow.”
— Dave Finley, former DAM Manager, Headspace

Lessons learned

Integrations can make or break a DAM. Key integrations connected Orange DAM to existing workflows.

Give users a reason to connect. Rich metadata and relevant permissions keep users coming back.

Consolidate systems. One centralized system replaced multiple third-party storage tools.
